Intuit makes getting started with QuickBooks Pro very easy. After that, Intuit lets you enter information—say, a customer record or merchandise item—on the fly. You can, however, opt for a more systemic approach if you prefer. For example, you can download a free app that syncs Outlook contacts with customer, vendor, or employee lists, or you can import an inventory list from Excel. Like other accounting software packages, QuickBooks lets you edit the default accounts that it creates based on your industry type.
This allows you to enter new report dates in a dialog box directly from Excel, and on those dates the report will run automatically and be reimported.
Handily, the original export is retained as an underlying worksheet. There are limitations — it will break if your report no longer includes the line referenced in the worksheet formula — but overall this will be a huge timesaver to those who generate regular reports. I had to update from QB just because it started complaining that the support for Payroll will cease at the end of May My QB was working ok in 3 user mode with the data on a server and 3 workstations being able to access it without problems.
The backups inside QB did not work, they were and remain a joke to this day After upgrade the problems started to appear: My accountant cannot log in. The company file cannot be put in multiuser mode,It errors out all the time. The QB support people are making changes and messing up. It's a nightmare. And I do not understand why I needed to upgrade except that Intuit wanted to fleece me. They made just cosmetic changes, the undelying behaviour is the same. This is multi user programming circa It is unbelivable that in you do not have a real multi user database and I as an administrator cannot log into the company file if somebody else not administrator has it open in single user mode.
Also the backups are still a joke. I mean for a multi user proram why can't the server program handle the backups? Why does it need a user to be keeping the program open somehow to do backups? Unfortunately it is very hard to find people skilled in other accounting products. I am spending countless hours with quickbooks reps on line and the programs still does not work properly. I am now bounced to second level of support who 'conveniently' is not available.
